The Tanner family
Four generations of building in Western Australia, now making the gate at the front of your place.
When it comes to your front gates, think Auswest Fencing and Wrought Iron. We have lived and breathed the fencing and gate industry for over 40 years and built a niche gate-making space in Perth's southern corridor.
Our family has been in building and construction since Grandfather Thomas Frank Stiles set up his carpentry and timber business in the 1940s in East Victoria Park. The whole family has served lifelong apprenticeships in the trade, and there is a lot of knowledge to share. Family-sized projects suit us best, so we can give you the best advice and service.
The family tree
-
1
Thomas Frank Stiles, 1940s
Carpenter and timber merchant, East Victoria Park. Where the family trade began.
-
2
Rod and Susanne Tanner, 1970s
Frank was Susanne's dad. The family moved into fencing and gates.
-
3
Penny, Rose and Aden
The grandchildren and great-grandchildren, from the 2000s. Rose Maree and Aden are the youngest on our team. You will hear them on the phones or see them in the workshop, when they are not at TAFE serving their apprenticeships.
We have moved with the materials the whole way through
Auswest started installing asbestos fencing back in the 70s, moved to Hardifence and Colorbond through the 80s and 90s, then into fabricating tube steel and aluminium pool and garden fencing in the early 2000s, and on to wrought iron gates and panels.
Today our focus is wrought aluminium, timber-look aluminium picket panels and gates, and the modern aluminium slat style that suits so many new Perth homes. That is a lot of company and industry knowledge kept in one family.
Honest, old-fashioned, and proud of it
We love what we do
We are a hardworking, old-fashioned, honest family, and we love what we do.
We stand behind it
We stand behind what we sell. We will be here when you come back.
Built to last
We build things to last, take care getting them right, and build them so you take pride in them years later.
Real people answer
Real people answer the phone, usually one of the family, and our on-hold music will not put you to sleep.
We support work that matches ours
We use family and local labour, and we support other family businesses whose work ethic matches ours. We actively seek out products that back sustainability and the Australian economy, so you can make good, fair comparisons. We prefer local materials that are tried and tested, like WA-grown dressed pine and jarrah.
Over the years we have worked across government, industrial, commercial and residential projects: enclosing front entries, automating driveway gates, making front steps safer with a decorative handrail, and pool fencing.
Four generations is a long time in any business, and we are proud our family is still going strong together. Ask us how we can help.
